 MIT's Open Courseware

OER - Open Educational Resources - http://cnx.org/

Openness is related to open source and is a philosophy that is being used as the basis of how various groups and organizations operate. It is a relatively new term to describe this general way of doing things.

It is typified by communal management, and open access to the information or material resources needed for projects; openness to contributions from a diverse range of users/producers/contributors, flat hierarchies, and a fluid organisational structure.

Teacher Created Wiki Projects

International projects that are organically generated by educators, in order to facilitate their own, curricular, and student needs to help prepare students to be globally effective, technologically literate, and collaborative savvy.

Classroom examples:

Flat Classroom Project - The Flat Classroom project is a genuine assessment project between Julie Lindsay'sgrade 11 ITGS class at International School Dhaka(ISD) in Bangladesh and Vicki Davis' 10th grade Computer Science class at Westwood Schools in Camilla, Georgia.

Horizen Project - This is a joint project between five classes ranging from grades 10-12 at the International School Dhaka, Bangladesh, Westwood Schools in Camilla, Georgia, Presbyterian Ladies College in Melbourne, Australia, the Vienna International School in Vienna, Austria and the Shanghai American School in Shanghai, China to research, discuss, and envision the education and society of the future according to the six trends outlined in the Horizon Report 2007 Edition.
